Covid-19 Cancellation Terms
In light of the ongoing uncertainty we have implemented the following cancellation policy:
Should participants not be able to travel due to the following COVID-19 related scenarios in the period of 10 days preceding the booking or for the period of the booking itself:
- If the FCO or government in the country of origin is advising against all but essential overseas travel.
- If travel or border restrictions in France (ordered by the French government in response to COVID 19) mean that participants cannot reach Chamonix
Clients will be entitled to a 100 % refund if either of the above occur.
How fit do I need to be?
We run on varying trails and terrain but due to the nature of this environment, hills cannot be avoided! HOWEVER, we approach all the runs with a very relaxed, social pace and depending on the terrain, there are times where we walk rather than run. Within every group there is always a wide range of ability, which is why we always have two or three guides with us.
You need a good level of fitness (not professional athlete level!) and be a regular runner, confident that although you expect to be challenged, you can run every day during the retreat week. We will work with you to prepare your fitness and conditioning before the retreat via a focussed training plan and are always on hand to answer any questions you may have. If you do not have a good level of fitness you may find the recovery time of activities prevents you from taking part in all the activities you wish to while on retreat.
With all this in mind the retreat is structured to allow recovery time and conditioning as well as enabling you to have 1 full rest day to enjoy the local sites.
Is it OK to come alone?
YES you can come alone! We pride ourselves on being a friendly team and making everyone feel welcome.
You may book a Shared Room retreat package, in which case we’ll match you with a room mate. All shared rooms have separate beds, one for each person.
We also offer Private Single Room options as well. While it does cost more to have a private room, you may select this option to be sure you have a room to yourself.
Can I come with my partner or friend(s)?
Yes! If you are coming with a partner or friend(s) and would like to share a bedroom, please make sure you let us know so we can make sure we place you together. Please check out our accommodation page to see what is available.
What is the group size?
We accept a maximum of 40 people on our Chamonix retreat. However, our retreats are created in a very bespoke manner and therefore we tailor each retreat to meet the needs of groups as they book.

Learn more about what is included in the retreat package HERE.
Can I record my runs?
Yes! We know some of you like to track where you have been and record your progress throughout the week so you can compare stats, so using a GPS device or app to do this is no problem.
How will I get there?
By Air
We run transfers between Geneva airport and Chamonix. When you book, we will email you with flight information and let you know what time our transfers will operate. If you are unable to meet these timings, there are regular bus and train connections between the airport and Argentiere.
By Rail
Train travel is possible between London and Chamonix-Mont Blanc and onwards to Argentiere village although does involve a number of changes. For specific information visit thetrainline.com
By Road
If you’d prefer not to fly and be under your own steam, or perhaps extend your break and continue your French adventure after the retreat, driving is a good option. After catching the ferry or taking the tunnel onto French soil, Argentiere is approximately 8/9hrs by car. The motorways (péages) in France are fantastic and mean you rarely get stuck in traffic, but remember these are toll roads and therefore you will have to pay to use them. Bip&Go is a good option to speed up payment at each toll, allowing the barriers to automatically lift as you approach!
What if I have food intolerance or a specific diet?
That’s no problem! We have chefs on site who can cater for all kinds of needs, please just make sure you let us know in advance, so we can be sure we fully meet your needs.
What insurance do I need?
You will need a travel insurance package that covers you for mountain activities. There are many of these on the market that can be found via a simple online search. Alternatively, we can recommend a broker who can offer suitable insurance at an affordable price. For more information, please email us at info@totaloutdoorfitness.com.
